Joint Science and Technology Workshops with contiguous research projects and initiatives

  • Participation in ICRA 2016 workshop 'Human-Robot Interfaces for Enhanced Physical Interactions' on May 16th with contribution 'User-adaptive shared control in a mobility assistance robot based on human-centered intention reading and decision making schemes', George Moustris, Milad Geravand, Costas Tzafestas and Angelika Peer.
  • Katja Mombaur delivered a talk entitled 'The role of computer simulations in the development of robotic assistive devices for an aging population' at the  JST-Leibniz Association Joint Workshop on Healthy Aging, Tokyo, 20-22 June 2016.
  • Organisation of the Workshop: 'Cognitive Mobility Assistance Robots: Scientific Advances and Perspectives', 2015 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS’2015)  Hamburg, Germany, 28th September 2015. (Organisers: Costas Tzafestas, Petros Maragos, Angelika Peer, Klaus Hauer).
  • Katja Mombaur delivered a talk entitled 'Model-based optimization for robot motions' at the 'Women in Robotics' workshop at RSS 2015 (Robotics Science and Systems), Rome, 16 July 2015.
  • Organization of a special session on Multimodal interaction with assistive robots has been initiated in the framework of the Universal Access in Human-Computer Interaction Conference-UAHCI, Human Computer Interaction International, HCII-2014, 22 - 27 June 2014, Heraklion, Crete, Greece.   • Workshop 'Haptic collaboration in shared control tasks' at the international conference Worldhaptics 2013 in Daejeon, Korea. Organizers: Angelika Peer, David Abbink, Ayse Kucukyilmaz, Cagatay Basdogan, Ansgar Koene, Satoshi Endo, Alan Wing.

  • Bartłomiej Stańczyk gave a presentation during the  'Health, demographic changes and welfare in Horizon 2020' conference. Presentation to the  Lublin Medical Cluster members, Technical University authorities and city authorities on 10 June 2015.
  • Katja Mombaur gave a keynote speech,'Model-based optimization for rehabilitation', at the TAR Conference (Technically assisted rehabilitation), March 2015.
  • Presentation of the MOBOT project on X International Conference on Medical Robots in Zabrze by ACCREA. The objective of this event was to present current development on different robotic systems designed for healthcare.

  • Katja Mombaur will deliver the keynote lecture: 'Model-based optimization for human movement analysis' at ESMAC Conference (European Society of Movement Analysis in Adults and Children), 26 Sept - 1 Oct 2016, Heidelberg.
  • Katja Mombaur gave talk entitled, 'Optimale Roboter als Schlüssel zur Mobilität' to IHK Rhein-Neckar 'Wissenschaft trifft Wirtschaft' (Chamber of Industry and Commerce – Science meets Industry), Heidelberg, June 2016.
  • Bartłomiej Stańczyk gave a presentation to Lublin Medical Cluster members concerning the cooperation in interdisciplinary and international projects on 11 June 2015.
  • Katja Mombaur delivered a talk entitled Optimale Steuerung für Anwendungen in Robotik, Biomechanik und Medizin', Ottobock, the medtech company, Duderstadt, Aug 2014.

Presentation of MOBOT demonstrators at industry fairs

  •  MOBOT was presented by ACCREA during RoboCup Trades in Leipzig, Germany on 30 June -3 July, 2016.
  • MOBOT was presented at Innorobo, Lyons, France, 1-3 July, 2015.
 
  • MOBOT was presented during the 80th Thessaloniki International Fair – HELEXPO (TIF)  05-13/09-2015. This is the most prominent innovation/industrial fair that takes place in Greece and the biggest event of its kind in the Balkan area, with emphasis on innovation in all production sectors. It has been inaugurated by the Greek Prime Minister and among the visitors were the Greek Minister of Education, the Minister for Development, the Secretary General for Research and Technology, as well as many other government officers and policy makers. The event also attracts a huge number of visitors from the academia, the industry and the general public.
  • ATHENA RC participated in the Thessaloniki Science Festival, 14-17 May 2015, HELEXPO, Thessaloniki, Greece. On 15 May there was a whole-day event entitled 'Speech – Sound – Image, Culture, Education: Technologies, Applications & Infrastructure' at ILSP/ATHENA RC. This  included a talk on 'Natural Interaction and Embodied Communication' delivered by Eleni Efthimiou, that made reference to the MOBOT project. Moreover, MOBOT presentations were given during the whole event at ILSP/ATHENA RC. Both attracted a number of visitors from the general public.
  • MOBOT was presented at the 79th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) 6-14 September 2014.  ILSP/ATHENA RC was present in the General Secretariat of Research and Technology kiosk. TIF is the most prominent innovation/industrial fair that takes place in Greece and the biggest event of its kind in the Balkan area, with emphasis on innovation in all production sectors. The event also attracts a huge number of visitors from the academia, the industry and the general public.  
  • MOBOT was presented by partner ILSP/ATHENA RC during the Thessaloniki International Fair  07-15 September, 2013.  

Dissemination to the media at large

  • MOBOT was presented by partner ILSP/ATHENA RC in Athens, Greece at CERTH (DEMOKRITOS) R.C. campus in Ag. Paraskevi and ICCS at the National Technical University of Athens premises in the framework of the upcoming RESEARCHERS’ NIGHT in September 2016, as well as the related pre-event at the premises of ATHENA RC. The event is expected to attract a huge number of visitors from the academia, students and researchers, the industry and the general public (both children and adults).
  • Katja Mombaur gave a public lecture entitled 'Mathematik für Robotik und Rehabilitation', Akademische Mittagspause, Heidelberg, May 2016.
  • Katja Mombaur gave a public lecture entitled 'Towards fast, efficient and stable motions - Optimization in Robotics, Biomechanics & Rehabilitation', SAP Germany, Walldorf, May 2016
  • MOBOT was disseminated at ACS (Athens Science Festival) 5-10 April 2016.
  • Katja Mombaur gave a public lecture entitled 'Wozu brauchen wir Roboter und was können sie schon alles?' at Girls Day, Heidelberg, April 2016.
  • MOBOT was presented by partner ICCS and ATHENA RC at the 'Paneuropean Researcher’s Night 2015', which took place at the National Technical University of Athens premises on 25 September 2015. The objective of this event was to provide information about current research programs and achievements to students, researchers, the industry and the general public. A talk was delivered by Evita Fotinea entitled “Natural interaction and multimodal communication”, where Mobot was presented.

 

  • MOBOT was also presented at the Researchers’ Night 2015 pre-event, at the premises of ILSP/ATHENA RC, on 18 September 2015. During this pre-event ATHENA RC stayed open late at night to welcome the general public and show them its research work.
  • ATHENA RC participated in the 2nd Athens Science Festival, 17-22 March 2015, Texnopolis, Gkazi, Athens. On 18 March  a whole-day event was held, entitled 'Language Processing and Content Technologies' at ILSP/ATHENA RC which included a talk on 'Natural Interaction and Embodied Communication' delivered by Eleni Efthimiou, that made reference to the MOBOT project. MOBOT presentations were also given throughout the whole event at ILSP/ATHENA RC. Both attracted a number of visitors from the general public.

 

  • Katja Mombaur gave a talk entitled 'Optimization of sit to stand motions of elderly people for the design and control of physical assistive devices' at GAMM Jahrestagung, (GAMM annual meeting), Optimization section, Erlangen, Germany, Mar 2014.
  • Presentation of MOBOT results and activities at the Robotics Night in Heidelberg by UHEI in 2014 . The objective of this event was to provide robotics activities and entertainment for kids and adults, but also to inform about current robotics research.
  • MOBOT was presented by partner ICCS and ILSP/ATHENA RC  at 'Paneuropean Researcher’s Night 2014', which took place in the National Technical University of Athens premises on 26 September 2014. The objective of this event was to provide information about current research programs and achievements to students, researchers, the industry and the general public.
  • MOBOT was disseminated at the Researchers’ Night 2014 pre-event, at ILSP/ATHENA RC, on 19 September 2014. During this pre-event ATHENA RC stayed open late at night to welcome the general public and get them acquainted with its research work.
  • ILSP/ATHENA RC was promoted MOBOT during the 1st Athens Science Festival, a Science and Innovation Festival along the theme of Science in everyday activities, that took place in Athens, Greece,  30 April - 2 May 2014 at Texnopolis, Gazi. The Festival  was organized by the British Council, Science Communication–SciCoLTD and the Scholars’ Association of the Onassis Foundation, in collaboration with many academic and research organizations, such as the ‘DEMOKRITOS” National Centre for Scientific Research, the National Hellenic Research Foundation and the ATHENA RC.
  • ILSP/ATHENA RC promoted MOBOT in a series of events that form the Athena RC Open Days popularisation events and activities. MOBOT was presented as part of familiarising the general public with the Institute’s research activities. For example, MOBOT was presented to  Skala Lakonias High School on 9 April 2014 and Tositseio High-school of Ekali on 7 March 2013.
  • MOBOT was presented at the Exhibition entitled 'From Science to Technology' , inaugurated at the  Kick off meeting of the HORIZON 2020, Athens, Greece, January 2014-July 2014. It was organized by the DEMOKRITOS Centre for Scientific Research and was open to public. The idea behind it is to highlight the innovative research undertaken in Greece and the need to support the synergies between the Academia (Universities and Research Centres) and the private sector of the country.
  • Mobot was presented at  Researchers Night 2013, 27 September  2013, Athens, Greece - see leaflet.
  • MOBOT was presented at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) 7 - 5 September 2013 by ATHENA RC.

  • Mobot was widely presented during the validation phase (2016) in DIAPLASIS there are already further plans for it to appear in major Greek TV channels and newspapers.
